Streptococcus investigated

Researchers at the Department of Oral Biology has obtained funding for medicine, health and biology, FRIMEDBIO.

The research project will investigate how oral streptococci can protect against harmful infections, and has received funding for three years of research.

Professor Karl Schenck and professor Fernanda Petersen at the Department of Oral Biology, has received funding from the Research Council program FRIMEDBIO for their project "Protective immunity two Streptococcus pneumoniae induced by oral commensal streptococci." T

The project builds on interdisciplinary expertise in molecular microbiology, genetics and immunology, and is a collaboration with colleagues in the UK and Switzerland.
