Research training PhD programme

Most of the research fellows at the Faculty of Dentistry are salarised by the faculty, but it is also possible to be admitted to the programme by means of external financing.

How is the PhD-programme compiled?

The organised research training at the Faculty of Dentistry is conducted under the PhD programme and has a duration of three + one years. The doctoral training is equivalent to three years of full-time study, but most candidates are appointed to PhD positions that include 25% teaching duties. So for most candidates, the PhD programme lasts for four years.

What is the degree based on?

  • Completion of training component
  • Academic thesis
  • Doctoral trial, which consists of a trial lecture and public defence of the thesis (disputation)

What are the application requirements?

To become a PhD-candidate as a dentist, you need to:

  1. be proficent in Norwegian
  2. have a Norwegian dentist authorisation
