Norhed II

The deadline to apply for applying to NORAD for projects in NORHED II was 29 June 2020. Who will receive the award will be announced in November.

NORHED is Norad's program for capacity building, research and education in collaboration between higher education institutions in Norway and in low- and middle-income countries. The projects will have a duration of either 3 or 6 years, with a framework of between NOK 10-20 million per project.

19 applications were submitted with UiO as coordinator. One of the applicants was from the faculty of Dentistry, UiO (Department of Biomaterials): "Strengthening R+D+i capacities in Regenerative Medicine for Colombia". (In cooperation with Fundacion Uni. Sanitas, Universidade Nacional de Colombia).

In NORHED II the project coordinator responsibility has been moved to the Norwegian partners. Each institution in Norway will have one overall contract with NORAD for all the NORHED II projects we are awarded.

The Faculty of Denitistry at UiO (OD) has sent one application (UiO as coordinator).

Partner countries and theme areas for the projects can be found in the attached overview. In accordance with the priorities for Norwegian development assistance funds, the projects have identified themselves within certain thematic sub-programs and linked the projects to the sustainability goals. In line with Norwegian development policy, projects with partner countries for long-term development cooperation will be given priority. Most apply with partners in Africa (Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya, Ghana, Togo, etc.), but there are also several applications with Palestinian partners, some with Asian countries (Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, etc.) and some with Colombia.

The program responsibility for NORHED lies in the Department of Research Administration, but there is close collaboration across the departments as the projects provide for various forms of mobility and some degree- exchange. PhD candidates who come through Norad-funded projects, will be able to pay semester fees and receive student rights, including student housing (as NORHED I and NORPART)
