- If the dentist makes findings of a more general medical nature, or that the dentist has medical risk patients undergoing treatment, it is naturally that the patient regular doctor is the natural partner, writes Dean Pål Barkvoll in Medicine 11/05
In cases where the dentist finds it appropriate to refer to a specialist, it is in areas where one has a significantly greater expertise than you would normally find in primary care.
But it is important that the patient regular doctor has a coordinating role in a fragmented and specialized healthcare, emphasizes dean Barkvoll.
