Coronavirus work restrictions

There are primarily two measures used by the employer/higher education institution to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. These are work restrictions and home quarantine. The faculty stresses that all students and staff are considered healthcare personnel according to the Health Personnel Act. Particular requirements are in place for health professionals, and the threshold for imposing work restrictions is much lower than for other occupational groups and places of study.

Work Restrictions

Applies to employees and students in the healthcare services who, for the past 10 days, have been in areas of widespread transmission and have not knowingly been in close contact with a confirmed case (low-risk contact).

What does it mean to have work restrictions as an employee at the faculty?

Having work restrictions placed upon you by the faculty does not mean that you are defined as being ill.

If you are able to perform your work tasks from home, it is expected that you will be working during this period. This means that you are solving tasks that do not require you to be physically present at work - typical tasks that can be solved with a computer and by phone. We arrange electronic meetings. If you need support to connect to UiO's systems, send an email to our local IT-staff, and they will assist you over the phone. You log your hours in the HR portal under "Homework" (Hjemmearbeid).

What does it mean to have work restrictions as a student at the faculty?

If you are a student, it will be arranged for you to stay academically up to date during the period of work restrictions. You will receive a valid absence if you are subjected to a work restriction. Students that are placed under work restrictions, and students that are experiencing symptoms of respiratory infection, must contact the Section for Student Affairs at the faculty.

Home quarantine

Applies to those that have been in close contact to a confirmed case, including those who live with a confirmed case.

What does it mean to be subjected to a home quarantine as an employee at the faculty?
