Dahle (Director of Professional Affairs, Norwegian Institute of Public Health).

The symposium, titled "Antimicrobial Resistance in Oral Health Care: A Global Call to Action," brought together experts from various countries, including Norway, to discuss the crisis of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The RESISFORCE network is an interdisciplinary collaboration between institutions from Norway, Brazil, India, Canada, and the USA, promoting education and research related to combating AMR.

The symposium was held in collaboration with partners from McGill University, led by Prof. Nicolau, and was supported by the Nordic Dental Association.

The program featured engaging presentations from leading experts in the field. Professor Petersen opened with a summary of previous symposia on AMR, which have served as important platforms for sharing knowledge and experience. Associate Professor Roger Junges followed with an informative introduction to the topic, setting the stage for the discussions that followed.

Vanessa Carter, a member of the WHO AMR Survivor Task Force, then shared her powerful personal story, which deepened the understanding of the challenges many patients face.

Dr. Benoit Varenne from the WHO presented the organization’s role in the fight against AMR, while Dr. Doralice Severo da Cruz from Brazil shared insights into national guidelines.

Finally, Dr. Ulf R. Dahle from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health summarized key meetings from 2024 that have shaped the future of AMR. He highlighted the High-Level Meeting on AMR at the UN General Assembly and the G20 Health Ministers' Meeting in Rio, both of which underscored the global commitment to combating AMR. Dahle also referenced the 4th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference in Jeddah, which has driven stronger international commitments and actions against AMR.

Save the Date – October 24, 2025

"We invite everyone to save the date for the upcoming event "AMR – Communication for All in a Polarized World," to be held at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

We look forward to continuing the work on AMR, which is of great significance to the field of oral health, and encourage everyone to participate in these vital discussions", concludes Fernanda Petersen.
