FRIPRO Three-year Researcher Project with International Mobility

The Research Council of Norway has pre-published the FRIPRO three-year researcher project with international mobility call. Deadline: open-ended.

FRIPRO is the Research Council of Norway (RCN) funding for bottom-up and researcher initiated projects. The scheme funds free, bold and innovative research at the forefront of international research, both basic and applied. There are separate calls for Early Career ScientistsExperienced Scientists and Three-year Researcher Projects with International Mobility.

The three-year Researcher Project with International Mobility call is targeted towards researchers at the post-doctoral level who are to spend two years at a research organisation abroad and the third year at a research organisation in Norway. Grant proposals will be accepted for projects within all disciplines and research areas.

What will be funded

The projects may be granted from NOK 4.0 million to maximum NOK 4.4 million. Project duration should be 36 months. 

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must have submitted their doctoral thesis before submitting the FRIPRO Mobility application. 
  • Applicants must have completed their doctorate before project start-up. 
  • When submitting the application, no more than seven years may have passed since the date of defence of the doctoral dissertation. If more than seven years have passed, subtraction of leaves of absence, compulsory military or civilian service or sick leave in accordance with RCN rules for subtracting time are possible. See the call text for details.
  • You can receive funding for a Three-year Researcher Project with International Mobility only once.
  • At the time of application, you must not have lived or worked in the country of the host institution for more than 12 months during the past three years.
  • At the time of application, you must have lived or worked in Norway for at least 12 months in the past seven years.
  • You must be employed by the Project Owner (Norwegian research organisation) for the entire duration of the project period.
  • You must have completed a master's degree or PhD at a Norwegian research organisation.

Submission Restrictions

  • You can only be the project manager for one application to the FRIPRO scheme at a time.
  • You cannot be the project manager for an application for a Researcher Project for Early Career Scientists (FRIPRO) if you are in a waiting period or submission restriction period for the FRIPRO scheme.
