Societal Security and Antimicrobial Resistance

The call aims to provide research-based knowledge for the development of policies and strategies for handling the societal security consequences of an antimicrobial resistance crisis across sectors and the Nordics.

The purpose

The consequences of increased antimicrobial resistance on societal security in the Nordic region are yet to be studied, and the aim of this call is to provide research-based knowledge for the development of policies and strategies for handling the societal security consequences of an antimicrobial resistance crisis across sectors and the Nordic Region.

The project 

  • It can address the effects for individuals and groups, for Nordic societies, and for the Nordic community, of antimicrobial resistance within the thematic framework of the call.
  • Different scenarios can be developed to exemplify situations that could occur and that should be planned for. A one-health approach should be taken, when applicable.

Relevant areas for studying could be:

  • Organization and planning of home care for vulnerable groups
  • Design of hospitals, and institutions for elderly people and people with special needs
  • International travels and health care for international travelers, including Nordic travels
  • Food production, companion animals, and international trade with live animals, animal products, and food
  • Relation to the environment, such as the spread of resistance through and contamination of the environment
  • Models for private-public partnerships for the development of new antimicrobials
  • Risk and crisis communications
  • Democratic governance, including protection of Civil rights.

Funding available

The maximum amount of funding that may be sought is 3 Million NOK

Funding may be used for

  • Salaries and indirect costs of researchers (including overheads);
  • PhD and post-doctoral positions;
  • Research-related costs (such as data collection and analysis, Open Access charges);
  • Project-related costs (such as collaboration activities with project partners and stakeholders);
  • Communication, dissemination activities;
  • Travel/accommodation costs and mobility for the project partners;
  • Travel/accommodation costs for other participants including stakeholders;
  • Administrative expenses
