Coronavirus: Information to PhD candidates at the Faculty of Dentistry

PhD candidates with a workplace other than UiO must adhere to the guidelines at their workplace.

Public defence / PhD examination

As of Monday 23 March the University will have established solutions for arranging both fully digital and semi-digital public defences. The digital solution will be attempted at a few public defences to start with, before the solution is offered to everyone. The candidates will be contacted by the Faculty. The digital defences will meet the requirement for transparency and the possibility for the public to ask questions.

PhD courses

The Faculty of Medicine is working on digitalizing the teaching and on finding good solutions for the implementation of exams. It is therefore important that you continue to read and keep updated on the information provided by the Faculty of Medicine.

Case processing

Although UiO is closed, all applications for change of supervisors, submissions etc. that the faculty receives electronically will still be processed as normal.

Mid-term evaluation

The faculty encourages mid-term evaluations to be held by using digital aids, e.g. Zoom.


The faculty encourages supervision to be provided via Zoom or other digital aids, as long as the authorities’ measures to prevent infection are applicable.
