About the project

Building on more than a decade of collaboration between the Institute of Oral Biology, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Oslo and the School of Dentistry, Kathmandu University (KU), as well as the ongoing Erasmus+ Global project (2024-1-NO01-KA171-HED-000226752, 2024–2027), this project focuses on strengthening research competence and supporting the new PhD program in dentistry at KU (established in 2026, the first of its kind in Nepal). Through academic staff and student exchanges, joint supervision, and access to multicentre collections of specimens from oral precancer and cancer, the project aims to:

  • Build capacity in basic and molecular dental research at KU
  • Strengthen organized research training and PhD education
  • Promote high-quality, collaborative translational research in oral diseases

Ultimately, this partnership contributes to sustainable research development in Nepal while advancing global knowledge in oral cancer and oral pathology.
