Getting bioinspired in Aveiro
Our department showed a strong presence at the 2nd International Symposium on Bioinspired Macromolecular Systems in Aveiro.
Department of Biomaterials sent a strong team of scientists to present their latest research results on bioinspired biomaterial systems for bone healing application at the 2nd International Symposium on Bioinspired Macromolecular systems in Portugal last week. The symposium was organised by professor João F. Mano from University of Aveiro who is our collaborator in one of our EU-funded research projects called Blueteeth which focusses on using natural macromolecules originating from marine sources as support material for periodontal regeneration. Therefore, it was not such a surprise that João had invited our professors Håvard Haugen and Janne Reseland to give talks during the Marine Biotechnology session on the final day of the symposium.
In addition to our professor, several of our PhD students and postdocs also got a chance to show off their research results at to get inspired by the world-class talks given by some of the most renown scientists working in their specific field of research. For some of our PhD students, this was the first time they had a chance to discuss their research at an international conference with colleagues from all over the world.
