Academic Interests

His current field of research is the polyphenol-based surface functionalisation of titanium for improved tissue integration of dental implants.

In his project, Florian characterises the deposition of various polyphenolic molecules, such as tannic acid and pyrogallol. Using a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM-D), the coating kinetics, structural properties, and the subsequent interaction of the polyphenolic coating with relevant biologic matter (e.g. proteins) are studied.
