Academic Interests

His current field of research is the polyphenol-based surface functionalisation of titanium dioxide for improved tissue integration of dental implants.

In his project, Florian characterises the deposition of various polyphenolic molecules, such as tannic acid and pyrogallol. Using a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM-D), the coating kinetics, structural properties of and the subsequent interaction with relevant biologic matter (e.g. proteins) are studied.
