The event, held from September 9–14, 2024 included a wide range of activities. The symposium, which gathered more than 70 participants, featured valuable scientific presentations from researchers and students, including both oral and poster presentations. Extensive project discussions were also held, providing opportunities for deeper insight and reflection on ongoing research projects.
One of the most appreciated activities was a workshop on preparing research grant applications, which offered participants practical tools and strategies for developing strong, competitive proposals. This workshop was particularly useful for early-career researchers and students aiming to strengthen their academic trajectories.
For staff and students at UiO, participation in such international networks is especially meaningful. The NORSE network also contributed to the event, further highlighting UiO’s commitment to bringing together other relevant research communities.

“We are incredibly proud to have gathered so many talented students and researchers from different parts of the world,” said Professor Petersen. “These international collaborative projects provide us all with a platform to make important scientific breakthroughs with global impact.”
In addition to the academic program, the event included strategic meetings with the dean and other leaders at OHSU to explore opportunities for future institutional collaboration. The visit also included tours of OHSU’s clinics and research facilities.
Through such international collaborative initiatives, UiO staff and students demonstrate a continuous commitment to driving scientific innovation and cooperation across borders. It is an investment in our future capacity to tackle some of the most pressing global health challenges we face.
