Dr Sudhanshu Shekhar is a Senior Researcher in Infection and Immunity (Forsker II) at the Institute of Oral Biology, University of Oslo, Norway (2019-Present). His research interests include: 1) exploiting the oral commensal Streptococcus mitis to develop novel prophylactic strategies against Streptococcus pneumoniae infections; and 2) the impact of antibiotics and probiotics on the neonatal/infant microbiota and immunity. He received an MSc in Integrated Immunology from the University of Oxford, England (2006-2007), and a PhD in Infection and Immunity from the University of Manitoba, Canada (2010-2015). Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Oral Biology, University of Oslo (2015-2018), studying protective immunity to pneumococcal infections induced by oral commensals. Of note, he also holds a DVM in Veterinary Medicine and a BSc (Hons) in Biology.
