Dr Sudhanshu Shekhar is a scientist in Infection and Immunity at the Institute of Oral Biology, University of Oslo, Norway. His research interests include: 1) exploiting the oral commensal Streptococcus mitis to develop novel prophylactic strategies against Streptococcus pneumoniae infections; and 2) the impact of antibiotics and probiotics on infant immunity and microbiota. He received an MSc in Integrated Immunology from the University of Oxford, England, and a PhD in Infection and Immunity from the University of Manitoba, Canada. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Oral Biology, University of Oslo, studying protective immunity to pneumococcal infections induced by oral commensals.  Of note, he also holds a DVM in Veterinary Medicine and a BSc (Hons) in Biology.
