Meta Kuehn, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Duke University School of Medicine, USA
“How biochemistry and genetics elucidate the functional secretion of bacterial extracellular vesicles (bEVs)”
Kuehn is a specialist on genetic, biochemical, and functional features of bacterial vesicle production. In the past 20 years, she has studied the ability of microbial and host cell communities to produce, regulate, and functionally utilize bacterial extracellular vesicles as a means to survive and interact with their cellular and acellular environments.
Rodrigo Lopez, Professor, Department of Clinical Dentistry, University of Bergen

“Bugs and periodontitis - learned and unlearned?”
Lopez is a clinical periodontist and epidemiologist. His research runs broadly in the spectrum of epidemiology: molecular, clinical, and observational epidemiology. His talk will be on both biomedical science and medical philosophy. Furthermore, he will introduce us to what pyorrhea is/was, what periodontitis is, and how we understand disease today.
