Stem cells for bone tissue engineering (completed)

About the project

The project aim at characterizing mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow and adipose tissue and study the effect of bone stimulatory factors on differentiation of such cells into mature bone forming cells. Furthermore, the project aim to develop strategies for culturing bone stem cells in advanced biomaterials to provide new tools for bone tissue engineering. The project uses several advanced techniques ranging from molecular imaging and 3-D in vitro culturing to clinical testing of new materials and bone engineering approaches.

Financing

The project was initiated in 2005 is ongoing. Financing by funding from UiO, Helse Sør-Øst and The Norwegian Research Council (NFR)

Cooperation
