Dr. Saiz brought a wealth of knowledge and experience in orthopaedic trauma, with a distinguished background that includes a fellowship at UT Houston, the prestigious AO John Border Memorial Fellowship, and numerous contributions to the field through his research and clinical work. His research focuses on the systemic and local effects of polytrauma on fracture repair and the role of muscle injury on bone regeneration.

Dr. Saiz shared his expertise on the complex mechanisms involved in fracture repair under challenging conditions, such as polytrauma and muscle injury. His research, which investigates both clinical and basic science aspects of trauma, has contributed significantly to improving our understanding of bone regeneration and enhancing treatment protocols. His lecture provided a deep dive into the systemic and local factors that influence fracture healing, offering new perspectives on how to optimize patient outcomes in difficult cases.

We were also joined by Maryam Rahmati, UC Davis, Giuseppe (Beppe) Perale, Università della Svizzera italiana and Prof. Dr. Thaqif El Khassawna from the Experimental Trauma Surgery Faculty of Medicine at Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. Their participation enriched the discussion, providing additional insights into the multidisciplinary approaches required to address the complexities of trauma surgery.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Saiz for his visit and for sharing his valuable insights with our community. The lecture was a tremendous success, offering both academic and clinical perspectives that will undoubtedly influence ongoing and future research in the field.
Stay tuned for more exciting events and lectures that continue to bring cutting-edge knowledge and expertise to our institution.
