A Pioneering Achievement
This year’s EAO conference, attended by over 4,600 participants, is one of the most significant events in the dental field. Receiving such prestigious awards is rare; therefore, winning such a highly regarded award is a rare and distinguished achievement.
A Collaborative Effort Across Europe
This synthetic bone graft material has been developing at our department for many years, involving many past and present members and resulting in five PhD theses and numerous publications. The research has been a collaborative effort involving clinical and research laboratories at our Institute and several European universities, including Justus Liebig University Giessen, Universitat de les Illes Balears, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, AGH University Krakow and Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Our multidisciplinary team has taken the research from the lab bench, through in vitro and animal model testing, and finally to the first successful human clinical trials—an impressive achievement in translational research.
Support for Innovation
This innovative work has been made possible thanks to the unwavering support of the Research Council of Norway (Norges forskningsråd), the Eureka Network, and the European Commission. Their research funding has been vital in advancing this innovation, supporting translational research, and fostering collaboration between industry and universities.
Angela's Poster Presentation on Implant Surface Decontamination
In addition, Angela showcased her research on implant surface decontamination with a poster presentation at the EAO Congress. Her work focuses on innovative methods for effectively removing biofilm and contaminants from implant surfaces, a critical area for improving the longevity and success of dental implants. Angela’s contribution highlights the department’s dedication to advancing clinical practices through research and innovation in peri-implant health.
We are proud of this accomplishment and grateful to all who have contributed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in implant dentistry.
