Short biography
Adriane Andersen Mougios is a University Lecturer at the Department of Biomaterials, Faculty of Dentistry. She is an authorised dental technician with a professional background in fixed prosthodontics, digital manufacturing techniques, and dental ceramics.
Her academic interests are primarily related to digital dental technology, dental materials, and how different materials and manufacturing processes affect the quality of dental restorations. She also has experience in university pedagogy and the development of digital learning resources.
Academic interests
My academic interests include digital dental technology, fixed prosthodontics, and dental biomaterials. My research has primarily focused on the subtractive manufacturing of ceramic restorations and how manufacturing-related factors affect accuracy and surface quality.
I am also interested in 3D printing and the development of new digital manufacturing methods in dental technology. Another key area of interest is education, particularly how technology and active learning can be used to bridge theoretical knowledge and practical skills in professional education.
Education and professional experience
Mougios holds a bachelor's degree in Dental Technology from OsloMet and is an authorised dental technician specialising in fixed prosthodontics. After graduating, she worked as a dental technician with a focus on fixed prosthodontics, dental ceramics, and CAD/CAM.
She holds an Executive Master of Management from BI Norwegian Business School, with a focus on areas including innovation, digitalisation, and organisational development.
She joined the Dental Technology programme at OsloMet as a University Lecturer in 2015, where her roles have included academic responsibility for fixed prosthodontics and digital manufacturing techniques, course coordination, international coordination, and responsibility for interprofessional collaboration.
Teaching and academic experience
Her teaching is primarily aimed at students in the DDP Dental Technology programme at the University of Oslo. She teaches CAD/CAM technology, dental anatomy and dental materials. She has extensive experience in lectures, practical teaching, student supervision, assessment, and course development.
Her research activities also include international collaboration with Griffith University in Australia and the University of Otago in New Zealand. These collaborations have resulted in joint scientific publications and co-supervision of a PhD candidate at the University of Otago.
Mougios is also Editor-in-Chief of the digital learning resource Fixed Prosthodontics at OsloMetX and has worked extensively with the development of digital learning resources and active learning within dental technology education.
