In 2014 Jana graduated with MSc at Department of Animal Physiology and Ethology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia focusing on calcium channels of neuron-like PC12 cells via patch-clamp under supervision of prof. RNDr. Ľubica Lacinová, DrSc.

Jana continued to PhD trying a new field of gene therapy fighting inflammatory bowel disease in a murine model under guidance of assoc. prof. Roman Gardlík, MD, Dr. Rer. Nat., PhD. at Institute of Molecular Biomedicine at Faculty of Medicine. After a year she returned to neural research, this time focusing on iron deposition in human brain under pathological conditions, mainly neurodegenerative diseases under supervision of assoc. prof. RNDr Martin Kopáni, PhD, at Institute of Medical Physics, Biophysics, Informatics and Telemedicine where she graduated in 2018.

Jana spent 5 years as a post doc at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic at the Department of Tissue Engineering lead by Eva Filová, PhD, where she focused on soft tissue regeneration and joined projects working on osteochondral defects. Thanks to multiple Horizon 2020 projects she visited multiple biotechnological companies across Europe and 2 universities for 22 months. Jana learned electrospinning during her 6-month mobility at lab of prof. Gareth Williams, UCL - School of Pharmacy and a bit more about cell-material interactions at the department of Biomaterials at UiO, where she spent altogether 8 months prior to the fellowship.
