The Department of Biomaterials was pleased to host a two-day scientific exchange and collaboration program on September 2–3, 2025, in conjunction with the ongoing MISFAITH project, funded by the Research Council of Norway (Norges forskningsråd).
We participated in an engaging seminar on biomaterial-associated infections, which attracted a large audience of students and faculty members. The event featured international peri-implantitis experts Mariano Sanz, Lisa Heitz-Mayfield, and Mario Romandini, who presented their extensive research on this critical topic in modern dentistry. The seminar comprehensively explored peri-implant diseases, from definitions and diagnostics to cutting-edge interventions. Our PhD students presented our latest research in this field.
Molecules that are more often known for their potential to cause cancer may have a new, health-promoting role. Scientists are now discovering how these «radicals» may be used to prevent infections and promote the long-term success of dental implants.
Our department hosted a guest lecture on peri-implantitis by Axel Spahr from University of Sydney.
