Academic Interests

The overarching goal of Bano Singh's research is:

  • to explore the occurrence of smell, taste and trigeminal disturbances in different patient groups as well as in the general population.
  • to determine the neural and behavioral function of the olfactory, gustatory and trigeminal system and to interpret our environment in health and disease.
  • to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with smell, taste and trigeminal dysfunction.

To answer these issues, Bano Singh's group conducts several different research studies using a wide range of methods, including psychophysical and behavioral tests, functional brain imaging (fMRI), structural brain imaging, and clinical studies.

Teaching

Singh teaches Dental students and Dental hygienist students in following topics:

  1. The caries lesion and its biological determinants
  2. Biofilms in caries development
  3. Demineralization and remineralization
  4. The caries control concept
  5. Operative interventions
  6. Treatment of deep caries lesions
  7. Longevity of restorations
  8. Biocompatibility of dental restorations
