Behandling av periodontal sykdom (avsluttet)

Om prosjektet

Arbeidshypotese: Det er ingen forskjell i langtids kliniske og mikrobiologiske resultater mellom grupper av pasienter behandlet med scaling og rotplanering/full munn desinfeksjon og scaling og rotplanering med eller uten bruk av Metronidazol. Relevansen av prosjektet ligger i en grundig vitenskapelig testing av en ny behandlingsstrategi som vektlegger samarbeidet mellom allmenntannlegen og spesialisten. Videre overføres resultater og kunnskap fra basal forskning (antibiotika, mikrobiologi og biofilm) til klinisk forskning og anvendes eksplisitt i denne nye behandlingsstrategien. Prosjektet forventes å bidra til den nasjonale og internasjonale kompetansebyggingen innen periodontologi, gjennom forståelsen av biofilmens kritiske effekt på suksessen av behandlingsstrategier i periodonti.
